The Oil Kings are in action tonight at Rogers Place at 7:00pm, taking on the Red Deer Rebels. The Oil Kings currently sit in first place in the Central division with a 2 point lead over the Lethbridge Hurricanes (who have a game in hand on Edmonton). The Oil Kings will want to keep racking up the points to hold off the rest of the Central who are not far behind.
The Red Deer Rebels currently are holding down the second and final wildcard sport in the Eastern Conference, so they will be playing determined hockey as they try to build a lead and stay in a playoff spot and push for a better spot in the standings. The Brandon Wheat Kings are tied with the Rebels but sit outside the playoffs because the Rebels have a game in hand. This should lead to a fast paced exciting game, both teams are in search of points as the season hits its final stretch.
Players To Watch
Trey Fix-Wolansky – 7th round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2018. Currently leads the Oil Kings in points, and sits 4th in the WHL with 87 points on the season. The driver of the Oil Kings offence is always noticeable
Matthew Robertson – Slated to go late in the first round early second round of the 2019 draft, watch him now he’ll be in the NHL one day
Josh Williams – Should be picked in the top 2 rounds of the draft, ranked #59 by Bob Mackenzie. More under the radar player but one to keep an eye on for sure.
Dylan Myskiw – Coming off his first WHL shutout, look for him to keep the ball rolling tonight.
Brandon Hagel – Leads the Rebels in points, sits 5th in WHL scoring with 84 points.
Alexander Alexeyev – 1st round pick of the Washington Capitals in 2018, comes with some pedigree, look for him to be one of the Rebels top players.
Oleg Zaytsev – 37th ranked North American skater for the upcoming draft, always good to keep an eye on upcoming prospects.
