Today was hockey hooky day at Rogers place, as thousands of eager school children converged on Rogers Place simply happy to be skipping school to watch hockey. Little did they know they were about to witness a good old fashioned blowout of the road team. For most kids the players involved won’t be remembered, or even who the Oil Kings played against but they will remember that score.
The Oil Kings exploded for 11 straight goals after going down 1-0 in the first to win the game 11-1.
5 players on the Oil Kings had at least 3 points or more. Andrew Fyten coming out on top today with the only 4 point performance of the night. His first 4 point night of his WHL career. To make things even sweeter, Fyten scored against his former team, the Swift Current Broncos. He was acquired by the Oil Kings on December 13, 2018.
This was an exciting day for Oil Kings fans as we the boys pushed the magic number to clinch a playoff spot to 6 points, or alternatively 3 wins. The Rebels who are currently in 9th place in the Eastern conference are in action tonight as well. A loss tonight would reduce the magic number down to 4 points, or 2 wins.
